How to Clean Glass Dining Table

Glass dining tables and other glass furniture are pretty much easy to maintain. Simple daily actions will keep the beauty of the glass furniture and weekly maintenance will protect its luster. The monthly maintenance will make sure that your glass dining table set will last for a very long time.

Daily cleaning routines are easy to do and will not actually last for more than two minutes per glass article. Here are some steps to do the daily cleaning routines for your glass dining tables and other glass furniture.

  • Find cloth that is soft and smooth that you will use in order to clean your glass dining tables. You can also use feather dusters and the other usual dust removers but make sure that it will not damage your furniture. I suggest you use cloth here and use your own hands to wipe the dust that has accumulated in your furniture because cloth does not really damage it. Also, when you use your hands you can easily tell if the force that you are using is sufficient and if the force that you apply is too much.
  • When cleaning your glass dining tables you should not also forget to clean the other things that surround it. It would be best to clean the whole room too, because people take into account not only a particular piece of equipment but they take in the room as a whole. Even if you keep cleaning the glass dining table if you don’t clean the other things in the room with it, then it defeats the purpose. The room is a whole and the whole will be stained if even one part is out of place.
  • Be careful to use proper substances that will not ruin your glass furniture. Remember that not all substances can be used to clean glass because some substances damage it. Read about it and ask people in order for you to be able to properly clean your glass dining table without destroying its charm. There are a lot of ways to do this and the usual thing people do here is just buy ready made products from the grocery that are usually harmful to you and the environment but not harmful to glass. Here are some of the homemade mixtures used to maintain glass surfaces that are eco friendly and also harmless to you and your family.
    1. You can mix rubbing alcohol, vinegar and water in equal parts to get a mixture that is like a quick drying spray and will be able to be used in your glass surface. Or you can also just use vinegar and water to clean glass surfaces. This mixture is a different mixture from the first formula because it does not use rubbing alcohol and also because the proportion of the vinegar to water is 1:4. This mixture is a bit stinky without the rubbing alcohol to remove the smell so be warned.
    2. You can also make glass surfaces sparkle and shine when you use crumpled up newspapers. You can also use lint free cloth to make these kinds of surfaces shine.
    3. For people who don’t really care how much they spend, they can use steam cleaners to clean their glass surfaces. This is not exactly eco friendly though because steam cleaners use electricity to work.
    4. You can also use washing liquid to clean your glass dining tables but be sure to properly rinse the surface and make it shine with the material of your choice.

Why Choose Glass-Made Tables

When we think about glass furniture we usually think about something that is fragile and not appropriate.  This is especially true when thinking you think about a glass dining table. We think that this kind of furniture will use the same fragile, easily broken glass that we are used to. This is not the case however because of the development of a method that will make the glass stronger and more durable. These kinds of glass can become more durable than any other wooden furniture and will make your home feel more stylish. Here are other reasons why you should opt for glass-made tables.

Reasons we should choose glass-made tables:

  • Glass is a material that is already beautiful. Its usual transparency, the light’s reflectivity and its luster will bring in every home a brighter experience. This will be especially true when the furniture bought is a glass dining table. When positioned in an area that will allow the furniture to reflect just the right amount of light while eating will greatly accentuate the aesthetic quality of both the food and your table.
  • Glass before tempering is a material that can be easily designed. It can be made into many different things such as glass dining tables, glass dining table chairs, or even made to be part of a glass dining table set. This quality makes it easier for you to choose and match the different areas of your dining table in order to enjoy a better dining experience.
  • Glass tables can be made especially to suit your needs. Glass dining tables or any of the glass furniture for that matter usually is made by expert, professional craftsmen to create for you the perfect design and cut that can be positioned everywhere you want. It can be made into parts of a whole or it could be made to become just one whole piece of furniture.
  • Its relative light weight will make it easier for you to change its location to anywhere in you want with little difficulty. Unlike wooden furniture that are really heavy and will take much more people and power to move into position that you want. Wooden furniture’s weight is also sometimes directly proportional to its durability. If you have heavy wooden furniture, it probably really is heavy but if the furniture is light. It might be even more fragile that usual glass.
  • Tempered glass is also harder to damage than wooden furniture because of its hardness. It is easy to damage wooden furniture through scraping and carving that this kind of damage is usually difficult to fix and also usually permanent. When you have glass dining tables, this problem is usually not that much of a worry for people owning them. The quality of the glass tables to withstand damage is better than that with furniture made from wood and other products.

There are basically two types of glass that are commonly used for glass dining tables today. There is the traditional and the contemporary kinds of glass

  • Glass of the traditional type is made from non tempered glass and is more fragile and more difficult to work with. Being non-tempered, they are usually weak and prone to damage and when they shatter they can be dangerous. They are usually just the decorative design but on some occasions they are also used in functional purposes. This kind of glass is wanted especially because of this characteristic. The fragility and care you need to have when owning this kind of material shows other people what kind of person you are and how you treat yourself. Three Interior design styles that are normally used today and will be a perfect match with glass dining tables are the contemporary, the classical and the art decoration styles.

  • The contemporary interior design style is basically a design style that focuses on simplicity and functionality of the furniture in their design. Basically this means that they use just the right amount of decoration and don’t really decorate much. The charm of this style lies with the furniture and the placement of the articles to bring out the best aesthetic rather than using many accessories. Glass dining tables are a perfect ingredient in this kind of style because the material that it is already beautiful. Usually the kinds of cuts that the contemporary interior designs use are those with straight lines. Straight lines are usually employed in this style. This design is usually is employed in houses that want to express its modernity. This style is sometimes labeled as cold and hard because it uses mostly straight lines.
  • The classical design usually employs the concept of visual balance which usually means symmetry. This kind of design uses furniture that when cut at the middle will still show that the left and right side as identical. Most glass furniture are symmetrical and will be a perfect accessory to this design style. Remember that symmetry is the key in this kind of interior design style but should not be followed to the letter. It is also important to deviate from this rule from time to time in order to keep the design dynamic or to give life to the design and to prevent it from being too monotonous. This kind of design is very popular in big houses where this style has immediate effect because it shows a certain kind of nobility that is usually felt when surrounded by this design.
  • The point of this design is to use materials that are classical in form but artistic in its design. This style has certain flair to it and is very popular in contemporary times because of its attempt to combine the past with the present. The goal here is to combine the retro look or artistic designs from the past and concepts of the machine age designs. This design has elements that are very streamlined, geometric and often even curvaceous in nature but the essential part here is that it should be designed using concepts from the past. Glass dining tables here are also a perfect fit especially when you use curved or irregular cuts.
